Buenos Aires Labor Ministry Strengthens 152 Health and Safety Committees

The Ministry of Labor of the Province of Buenos Aires consolidated this year 152 Mixed Health, Hygiene, and Safety Labor Committees throughout the province's territory, as part of a sustained public policy aimed at protecting the life and comprehensive health of private sector workers. Created by Law 14,408, the Mixed Committees are strengthening as one of the key strategic axes of the provincial labor portfolio. These participatory spaces strengthen the prevention of occupational risks and promote better working conditions in companies of various sectors and sizes. The advancement of this public policy is accompanied by permanent actions of training, technical assistance, and territorial articulation, among which the launch of the Commission for Health, Safety, and Participation of Private Sector Workers stands out, an area aimed at promoting both the registration of existing committees and the formation of new participatory spaces. Since March of this year, the Ministry has held more than 30 training sessions in various locations in Buenos Aires province —including La Plata, Quilmes, Moreno, Avellaneda, Brandsen, and Villa Gesell— that reached some 180 people, including workers and staff from the Regional Delegations, with the objective of strengthening prevention and a culture of care in the workplace. Union participation was key in the registration process. Of the provisions issued since October 2024, 21 corresponded to ATSA La Plata, 12 to the Chemical and Petrochemical Workers' Union (SPIQYP), 4 to the UOM San Nicolás, 4 to the Truck Drivers' Union (SICHOCA), and one to the Argentine Ceramic Workers' Federation (FOCRA).
